2024-11-19Add WRITE_ALLOWLISTED_DEVICE_CONFIG perm when modifying DeviceConfig Michael Groover
Android 16 introduces restrictions on the DeviceConfig flags that can be modified by the shell user by removing the WRITE_DEVICE_CONFIG permission from this user and replacing it with the WRITE_ALLOWLISTED_DEVICE_CONFIG permission; with this permission, only those flags that have been allowlisted can be modified. This commit adds the ALLOWLISTED permission to any test that explicitly adopts the shell permission identity with the WRITE_DEVICE_CONFIG permission; the WRITE_DEVICE_CONFIG permission is not removed to ensure tests do not break when run on previous platform releases without the ALLOWLISTED permission. 2024-10-22Remove dependencies on the 1-variant fallback Cole Faust
When adding a dependencies, if the variants don't match, but the dependency only has 1 variant anyways, soong will always use that variant. This makes it hard to add new variants to soong, because the 1-variant fallback stops being used and you start getting missing variant errors. Rollbacks are currently stored only for some mainline packages, but rollbacks will be added for phonesky and GMS core in V. These new rollbacks should not be treated similar to mainline. We would want to perform GMS core rollback only when all other rescue party mitigations are already tried. And Phonesky should not be automatically rolled back. We introduce a new field rollbackImpactLevel to RollbackInfo, which is used to determine the order in which these rollbacks should be performed relative to other mitigations in PackageWatchdog. rollbackImpactLevel is exposed through PackageInstaller.SessionParams. Rollback system expects timely delivery of these broadcasts, which broadcasting system does not provide. Ideally, these should be a direct callbacks but sending them as foreground broadcasts seems to work for now and safe to do so. Also add an explicit dependency of RollbackTest app for MultiUserRollbackTest, so that that the app gets rebuilt if needed when building and running the test. Starting from target SDK U, we will block creation of mutable PendingIntents with implicit Intents because attackers can mutate the Intent object within and launch altered behavior on behalf of victim apps. For more details on the vulnerability, see go/pendingintent-rca. From a quick analysis, we concluded that the PendingIntent here was only destined to the test app/to the app, so it was made explicit. Removes dependency on PackageManager when loading observers early in the boot. This is done by associating each MonitoredPackage with a "packageName" string rather than a VersionedPackage. Currently if an APK rollback is requested after an update to an APK that just rotated its signing key the rollback will only be allowed if the previous signing key in the lineage has the rollback capability granted. This commit allows a rollback to the previously installed APK without requiring the rollback capability if the rollback API is used. This allows apps to take advantage of APK rollbacks without losing the benefit of key rotation by needing to set the rollback capability on the previous signing key.
